Your Boilersuit is your Identity.
YOU get to decide how to customize YOUR boilersuit. The only rule is that you may not paint on your boilersuit because that is reserved for sophs. Your boilersuit will grow with you. At first, theyβre stiff, empty, and oversized. By the time you graduate, theyβll be heavy with stories, laughter, and the faint smell of late nights in the engineering lounge. Patches mark the places youβve been, the people youβve met, and the conferences you βve attended. Your stitches hold together not just fabric, but also all the events youβve attended and the bars youβve crawled.
Do you have what it takes?
Boilersuits are EARNED at Western Engineering, not handed out. As you fill out your Boilersuit Station Book through engaging in various UES events, taking lead on an executive position of a club, attending conferences, or just simply showing engineering spirit, you will eventually meet the requirements to get your very own boilersuit! Each stamp is proof that you showed up, that you gave your time and energy, that you contributed to the legacy of Western Engineering. Once you receive your boilersuit, you will realize that it is not just a fashion statement, but a badge of honour.
Shop or Swap.
The longer youβre in engineering, the heavier your coveralls get. Quite literally. Patches can be bought at the +/- Store and/or traded with other students at conferences. One multi-night conference provides you enough trading opportunities to fill out an entire leg of patches or two (if you get enough patches to trade in the first place). Youβll see veterans whose suits can barely stay on their shoulders, weighed down with patches, traded sleeves, and hidden treasures in the pockets. Those are the ones you look up to, the ones whoβve been through it all.
Attend Engineering Events.
Once you receive your boilersuit, you will realize that it is not just a badge of honour, but a FASHION STATEMENT. Continue to show your engineering spirit by participating in engineering events that might even have exclusive patches made for them! And remember: you donβt wash your boilersuits. Every stain, every rip, every faint smell of beer or machine shop oil tells a story. Those marks arenβt dirt or grime, theyβre history. To scrub them away would be to erase part of your journey.
